Fundraising Event for Wilson Batista, Jr.: At the request of Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, New Beginnings is joining his effort in a fundraiser to help Wilson Batista, Jr. Wilson is a 13 year old boy from Long Island who sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) summer 2009. Journal Ad Drive. New Beginnings Community Center is initializing its first annual Journal Ad Drive. Monies raised will be used for the construction of the New Beginnings Community Center building and purchase of state-of-the-art equipment and therapies for those with TBI and other physical and cognitive disabilities. Veterans Day Gala. On Wednesday, November 11, 2009, New Beginnings Community Center premieres its first annual Veterans Day Gala. This exciting event will be held at the renowned Leonard’s of Great Neck. Enjoy outstanding food, an open bar and great music all while supporting a worthy cause. The success of this fundraiser will enable New Beginnings Community Center to purchase technologically advanced equipment and therapies for those with traumatic brain injury and other physical and cognitive disabilities. Community Center for Brain Injury Rehabilitation Coming to Medford: Many Long Islanders anxiously await the construction of the New Beginnings Facility to treat those who suffer from a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Support for Al Barone and other TBI victims are what prompted his daughter, Allyson Scerri to develop the concept of an all-in-one rehabilitation facility. Read article (PDF)

Walk-n-Rollathon. The Long Island Chapter of the Brain Injury Association of N.Y. State announces the second annual Walk-n- Rollathon to raise awareness of traumatic brain injury.
